Heating

Fixed heater in the main living room that meets the required heating capacity.

Tip: Portable or unflued heaters usually do not count. Use the official heating assessment tool on Tenancy Services before you record this area.

    Must be able to heat the main living room to about 18°C. Use the Tenancy Services heating assessment tool to confirm minimum kW.

About the standards

Private rentals must meet the five Healthy Homes standards from 1 July 2025. Insulation R-values vary by climate zone (typically ceiling R2.9 / R3.3, underfloor R1.3).
